If this is your first time doing lay-by on Radian Online, here is an easy to follow step-by-step guide.


These Lay-by terms and conditions relate to Radian Stores Retail Limited’s ONLINE Lay-by service which is accessible on www.radianonline.co.zm.
Please do not proceed with the use of Radian Stores Retail Limited’s Online Lay-by service unless you have read, understood, and agree to the below terms and conditions.

What is Radian Online Lay-By?

“Radian Online Lay-By” means a facility in your name, whereby we reserve a product that you have chosen, and if/once your lay-by request is approved, which you pay for in instalments over a given period of time while we hold such goods.
All payments made to Us by you will be treated as advance deposits towards a prospective purchase later on.

How will Radian Online Lay-By Work?

Once you have decided to utilize the Radian Online Lay-By service to purchase a product, express your intent to Us by placing a lay-by request. You do so by following the below steps:
1. Add the item you want to place on lay-by to your cart by clicking the “Add to Cart” button.
2. Click the Cart (shopping bag) to check the added product and amount total, if you are happy, Click on "Go to Checkout' option.
3. Fill in your shipping address and select your preferred shipping method to receive your purchase once you have completed your lay-by (For Lusaka city customers, you can opt for home delivery or store pickup. | If you are out-of-Lusaka, select the nearest Radian branch as a collection point).
Note: As with all regular out-of-Lusaka orders, Lay-by orders below K39,000.00 are subject to 5% transport charge as well.
4. Click 'Next' to proceed to the payment options page. Here, select the payment option 'Pay gradually - Request for Lay-By' and click on 'Place Lay-by Request'.
At this point, you have successfully placed your lay-by request and you will be issued with a Lay-By Request Number for your reference. Your lay-by request will now be reviewed by Us with an approved/disapproved status within the next two working days.
Should your lay-by request be approved, you will receive an update email containing a payment link with which you will make your first deposit and guidelines regarding your subsequent deposits. Should your lay-by request be disapproved, you will receive an update email with a reason why your lay-by request was disapproved.
Payments on the the secure URL links that you will be provided with to complete your payments (if/once your lay-by request is approved) can be made using any of the following Payment Methods: Visa, MasterCard, Airtel Money and MTN Mobile Money.

How many items can i put on lay-by at any time?

You will be allowed to place on lay-by only 1 product at a time. Lay-by requests placed to Us with multiple items in the request will not be approved. New Lay-by requests placed to Us while you have an ongoing lay-by that has not been fully paid-for and dispatched will also not be approved.

Is there any start-up registration fee? How much will I have to deposit as my first instalment?

No, the Radian Online lay-by service has no nominal start-up fee. You will be expected however to deposit a minimum of 10% of the grand total of the lay-by request order as your initial deposit.

Do all Radian Online items qualify for lay-by?

All Radian Online items will qualify for lay-by provided the item price is equal to or above K2, 000. Note that items on promotion will only qualify for lay-by at the regular price and not the promotion price. Lay-by requests placed to Us with an item at a promotional price in the request will not be approved. You will be contacted by Us to confirm if you wish to have a new lay-by request placed with Us for the product on promotion but at the regular price.
Also note that if the product that you have initiated lay-by is later placed on promotion by Us, you will not be eligible to cancel the ongoing lay-by in order to purchase the product on the promotion price.
Notwithstanding the above, from time to time, to promote the Radian Online Lay-by service and our customer-centric values, Radian Stores Retail Limited reserves the right to allow at its discretion promotion prices to be approved for lay-by.

Is there any limit to the number of deposits that I can make?

No. You are free to make as many deposits as you like. However, you will be expected to conclude your instalments within 90 days from the date of approval of your Lay-by request. If 90 days elapse without full settlement of your lay-by, we may, at our discretion, grant you a grace period within which time allow you to conclude your lay-by or opt to cancel the lay-by altogether based on Our cancellation terms

Can I cancel my lay-by?

Yes. You can cancel the lay-by within the standard period of the lay-by which is 90 days from the date of approval of your Lay-by request, but it will attract a service charge of 5% of the paid-up amount. Also, if you request for the cancellation of the lay-by after the standard period of 90 days, the surcharge will be as below:-

  1. Up to 30 days beyond the standard period of lay-by will attract a penalty of 10% of the paid-up amount.
  2. 31 days up to 90 days beyond the standard period of lay-by will attract a penalty of 25% of the paid-up amount.
  3. 91 days beyond the standard period of lay-by will attract a penalty of 40% of the paid up amount.
    Note that if We realize that you are inclined towards constantly cancelling your lay-by plans without valid reasons, then you will no longer be eligible to enjoy the Radian Online Lay-by service.

What happens if the price of my intended item goes up while my lay-by is active?

Radian Online will offer you price guarantee (Price Lock) on the original price of the product that you wish to utilize our lay-by service on for a period of 90 Days only.

The above is subject to the following conditions:

  1. Price changes are inevitable due to inflation and exchange rate fluctuations. If the price of your lay-by item is found to have been revised upwards by 10% and above at the time of completion of your lay-by, you will be required to top up the difference between the original price you started the lay-by at, and the new price.
  2. If the price of your lay-by item is found to have been revised upwards but below the 10% mark at the time of completion of your lay-by, you will pay the original price you started your lay-by at, and not the new price.

Will my intended lay-by item be reserved for me?

Radian Online will attempt to reserve your intended lay-by item for the stipulated 90 days limit. If the 90 days limit exceeds, then Radian cannot guarantee availability of stock. If you exceed the limit, and find that the stock is no longer available, then you will be given the option of refund and purchase another product with a similar value.

Will I be penalized for exceeding payment/s period?

Failure to conclude all the payments within the standard period of the lay-by which is 90 days will attract a penalty as below:-

  1. Up to 30 days beyond the standard period of lay-by will attract a penalty of 10% of the paid-up amount.
  2. 31 days up to 90 days beyond the standard period of lay-by will attract a penalty of 25% of the paid-up amount.
  3. 91 days beyond the standard period of lay-by will attract a penalty of 40% of the paid-up amount.

If you have not breached any terms related to the online lay-by facility, and for reasons beyond our reasonable control, we are unable to deliver that Type to you, we will, at your option:-

Supply you with an equivalent product that is comparable or superior in description, design or quality; or Refund to you the full amount deposited with us for the lay-by order.

You understand and agree that the Lay-by order request you place to Us is simply an offer from you to purchase on partial payment basis the product mentioned in your Lay-by order request to Us upon full payment completion and does not constitute an acceptance of the offer by Radian Stores Retail Limited (Radian Online Zambia), or represent as a contract of sale. If your lay-by request is approved, any acceptance of the offer placed by you to Us as a contract of sale is dependent and conditional upon Radian Stores Retail Limited's (Radian Online Zambia's) verification of timely and complete deposit payment(s) received from you, and in full compliance with other Terms and Conditions governing our online Lay-by service. We will notify you of our acceptance of the offer as a contract of sale by issuing an email confirming the dispatch of the product to your address/store of choice as specified on the lay-by order request. If we cannot accept your offer, we will contact you using the phone number/email address provided by you when placing your lay-by order request to Us.

In the case of Store pickup, if after arrival of your lay-by order at the collection point, the order is left uncollected at the collection point, then a grace period of 7 Days will be granted from the date of arrival within which to collect the said order. Once 7 Days have elapsed, you will be charged a Storage Rental fee of K5.00 for each passing day for the safe keeping of your uncollected order.

Information collected from this transaction will be used for the purpose of processing your lay-by and may also be provided to third parties, to send reminders via letter, phone call, SMS, email or social media.

Information collected from this transaction may also be used for the purposes of contacting you regarding any change in Radian Stores Retail Limited policies and procedures that may affect you.

The Radian Online Lay-By service is an interest free arrangement. No interest will be paid on deposits made under any circumstances.

You understand and confirm that in the case of your death, Radian Stores Retail Limited shall have the right to release the money lying to the credit of your Lay-by Account to the person appointed as your estate administrator who shall be given the said funds.

Radian Stores Retail Limited may retain any and all funds in the Account of the Customer until it establishes the identity and credentials of the successor(s) at its sole satisfaction, and Radian Stores Retail Limited reserves the right to demand and inspect requisite documentation in this regard, including an administrator-general’s letter/probate of a will.

You understand and agree that the lay-by goods are identified and described by style, make, model, kind, design or category (“Type”). This does not mean that specific goods are set aside for the duration of the lay-by agreement, but that we will deliver that Type to you after receipt of the full purchase price.

Photographic proof of identity must be presented when collecting the goods or terminating the Lay-by. Conclusion and collection of lay-by goods may only be done by the purchaser unless an email from the email address provided when initiating the lay-by order request authorising the order to be collected by a 3rd party is received by Us from you.

By entering into a lay-by transaction with Radian Stores Retail Limited (Radian Online Zambia), you acknowledge to have read and understood these terms and conditions and accept to be bound by them.
